Triathlon is a combination of three sports; typically swimming, biking, and running. That is the typical “swim/bike/run” triathlon.
There are also off-road triathlons that consist of lake swims, mountain biking, and trail running. Other triathlons replace swimming with canoeing and kayaking.
To excel at triathlons, not only do you have to be good at all the individual sports, you need to be good at putting them together. That means you’ll be doing brick workouts – two sports back to back. And you’ll need to practice transitions so that you’re not wasting time there on race day.
