Tested: Mountain Sun Juice & Tea

I love green tea, and I love blueberries. So when I spotted a drink that combined blueberry juice with green tea, I had to have it (even though I rarely drink fruit juice.)
The bottle in question was Mountain Sun Juice & Tea, in the Blueberry Green Tea flavor. I could practically taste the delicious blueberry juice mixed with the crisp green tea just looking at it!
Unfortunately, that sensation only lasted until I actually tasted this drink!
Taste Test
This juice tastes like grape juice, but with a slighter bitter note in there.
Looking at the ingredients, this is basically white grape juice with a teensy bit of blueberry juice and green tea added. So I guess it shouldn’t be surprising that the most prominent flavor is grape!
I didn’t taste any blueberry though, and I barely tasted the green tea. Overall this tastes like bad grape juice!
Nutrition
Nutrition wise, this stuff is similar to any other juice. It is fairly natural, being based on fruit juice, but it’s very high in sugar and calories – 130 calories per 8oz serving.
There is some green tea extract in there to add a few extra antioxidants, but you’d still be better off with a cup of tea and a bowl of fresh blueberries.
That option is healthier, contains fewer calories, and is more filling.
My final verdict is…
I wouldn’t bother buying any of this “juice + tea” from Mountain Sun.
If you like blueberry, eat some blueberries. If you like green tea, just get some Celestial Seasonings tea bags and brew some yourself. Or, if you must, get ready-to-drink tea from Honest Tea (it tastes much better than this.)
