Getting Drunk
Since this blog is kind of a case-study about my fitness and training, I figured I should talk a bit about drinking and how it fits into the mix. (Drinking alcohol, that is…)
I’m not much of a drinker since it doesn’t fit in too well with intense training, but now that I am 21, I have had the chance to check out some very nice looking stores that were previously off limits. And I just couldn’t help but sample some of these products ;).
I had never been really, legitimately drunk before, so I figured this past Wednesday was a perfect time to try it out. I wanted to get an idea of what it was like to be drunk and to have a hangover. A learning experience, if you will.
So late into the evening I busted out a Colt 45 to start things off. That was 40 oz of malt liquor in a short period of time. I was feeling the alcohol by the time I finished, but I was really feeling the 40 oz of fluid hit my stomach. After this I went over to a friend’s place and was immediately handed another beer. Oh, the joys of college!
A little later on I passed out on his floor. I woke up without even realizing what happened, since I wasn’t actually asleep. It was more like zoning out to a greater degree. But after all that I just chilled out, zoned out some more on the couch, and possibly got some sleep.
I tried to stay in bed most of Thursday to rest up for the upcoming 5k, and the alcohol helped keep me from exerting myself, so it all worked out OK! I could still feel everything sloshing in my stomach though, so that sucked.
Lesson learned: If I want to get drunk in the future, I’ll go with hard alcohol
Anyway, I feel great today, and I know what it’s like to be drunk. I’d call that a success.
