Riding At Night

Or more likely, in the dark. Now that daylight savings time isn’t saving any light for us, you may end up riding in the dark more often than not.

But that’s OK if you have the proper equipment. You could actually have more fun in the dark, although it is risky especially if you have to ride on high-traffic roads.

With a high powered front light and a red blinker behind you, you should be all set, right? It makes sense because you can see and be seen. However, there could be more to the story.

What if you just think you have the proper equipment?

Did you know there could be laws delegating what constitutes proper gear for riding in the dark? I had no idea, so it’s a good think I found this article over at VeloNews. It was written by Bob Mionske, who knows a thing or two about cycling and the law.

The article covers a specific case concerning Minnesota law, but it’s an eye-opener for all cyclists.

It’s a good read, especially if you find yourself out on the road when the sun goes down.
